Welcome to the GoldBox Wiki

Dedicated to the "Gold Box" series of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons computer games released by Strategic Simulations, Inc. between 1988 and 1993.  These games were released on many different platforms, including the Amiga, Apple II, Atari, Commodore 64, IBM PC-compatible, Macintosh, and NES.

Did you know? GameSpy inducted SSI's series of Gold Box games into their Hall of Fame on August 16, 2004.

This wiki is just getting started -- contributions are welcome!  I'm currently playing through Champions of Krynn so most of my updates will be for that game for now.

Newly added to the Source folder:

  • DRAGON Magazine 127 - An interview with employees of SSI, Inc. after the announcement of SSI's acquistion of the TSR AD&D license. Ten software companies bid on the license to make AD&D computer games.  Pool of Radiance is one of the first games in development.
  • DRAGON Magazine 133 - SSI announces sneak previews of its upcoming AD&D games at 1988's Consumer Electronics Show
  • DRAGON Magazine 137 - Electronic Arts becomes the official distributor for SSI's software, including the AD&D games
  • DRAGON Magazine 138 - Pool of Radiance is released on the Commodore 64 in August 1988
  • DRAGON Magazine 143 - Pool of Radiance is reviewed and awarded 4.5 of 5 stars
